337. William James "Billy" Firmin (Mary Lucella Tyner , Stella E. Scott , Phillip Marion , Owen ) was born on 9 Feb 1926 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, USA. He died in 6 Jun 2011 in Rancho Mirage, Riverside, California, USA.
William J. Firmin passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 6, 2011. The youngest son of Wilbur Firmin and Lucile Tyner, he was a lifetime resident of Los Angeles and Santa Monica. His much loved older brother, Robert, is deceased. Bill graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1944, and then joined the Army Air Corps. After serving his country, he graduated from USC with a degree in Public Administration. Bill also served proudly on the Santa Monica Fire Department for 15 years, rising to the rank of Captain. He was a Partner and Chief Executive of More department stores, then spent 45 years as a Commercial Realtor in Santa Monica before retiring to Rancho Mirage, where he resided with his wife of 29 years, Mary, whom he cherished. Bill was a remarkable man who lived life fully, spending his youth as a gymnast on the Original Muscle Beach, and riding motorcycles. He owned a boat for many years and enjoyed driving, snorkeling and fishing. His years in the desert were spent on the golf course at the Springs Country Club with his family and friends. He had no greater love than the love for his family. Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary; his sons, Dean and Kevin; his daughters, Juli Anna and Kathleen; his four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 'No ordinary man', Bill was kind, loving and truly a gentle man who will live on in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
