Michael Brady

The Michael and Rose Mary Brady family are found living in Lavey, Upper Loughtee, Cavan, Ireland in the Irish 1821 census. The family owns no land and lives next to the Protestant Bishop of Kilmore. Michael is employed as a farmer with his wife Rose Mary employed as a flax spinner, which was used for making linen. In 1834 the family is still listed in Lavey and is recorded on the Tithe record. On the 3rd of May 1843 Michael and Mary Brady arrive at New York City on the sailing ship Rochester with their stated destination being Pennsylvania where a number of their son’s are living. In 1850 they are living in Bristol, Pennsylvania with their son Patrick. When Terence Brady, their oldest son applies for a carpenter’s certificate to build the schooner George Washington he certifies that he had been living in the United States of America since approximately 1832. The Brady family moves first to New York City, New York and then to Bristol, Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the late 1830’s. This site is dedicated to preserving the Brady Family’s history for future generations. Much time and resources have gone into collecting the information on this page. It is our hope that members of our family will help us find their branch of the family.

James Brady Extended Family

James Brady, cartman, arrived in New York City in 1823 when his daughter Bridget was 18 months old. Daughter Bridget married James Terence Brady the son of Michael Brady whose descendants are part of Brady Family Tree.

Thomas S. Brady

Thomas S. Brady arrived in the United States during the war of 1812. The ship Thomas and his wife arrived on was chased to New York by an English Privateer. Thomas started The Catholic education system for New York City and then became an attorney. Thomas was elected a New York City Alderman. His sons were all prominent. Thomas A. Brady became a Marine Corp officer and was among those who stormed the Halls of Montezuma during the Mexican war. James Topham Brady became one of the most famous attorney’s of the 19th century and wrote the will of James Brady, cartman whose link is on this website. John Ryker Brady a judge of the New York State Supreme Court and administered the oath of office making Chester A. Arthur, President of the United States.

William N. Brady

William N. Brady, an officer in the United State Navy and author of “The Kedge Anchor” is married to Cornelia Waterbury whose family lives next to Nicholas Brady, cartman the brother of James Brady, cartman.

Philip and Jemina Brady

Philip and Jemina are the parents of Henry Augustus Brady who ended up in Bristol, Pennsylvania.

Francis “Frank” Brady

Frank Brady moved his family from Summit county, Pennsylvania to Bristol, Pennsylvania.

Charles Anderson Brady – Kentucky

Charles Anderson Brady moved to Kentucky from Virginia in the late 1700’s. Charles is the ancestor of Lindsay Anderson Brady.
