Read Sorensen Arnold, loving father, grandfather and "Grandpa Great" continued his eternal progression by joining his sweetheart Maidie on February 20, 2001.

Read was born on a snowy spring morning April 24, 1904 in Salt Lake City, a son of

Samuel Read and May Rebecca Sorensen Arnold. He married Maidie Finlinson of Oak City, Utah on June 21, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple, making their home in Granger, Utah. Dad loved his wife, family, his Savior Jesus Christ, and his fellow men. He served a mission to the Hawaiian Islands 1925-1927, and was a stake missionary. He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a faithful home teacher, taught many classes, and served for 20 years in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. He served many years as a ward, financial, and stake clerk in the Oquirrh, North Jordan and various Taylorsville Stakes. He was released as a ward financial clerk when he was 94. He loved life and he enjoyed hard work.

He graduated from Granite High School and also attended Henager's Business College. He worked for Continental Oil for 35 years in Salt Lake City and Denver, Colorado. He retired from Conoco in April 1969 then worked for 16 years at the Murray

Deseret Industries doing accounting work.

He is survived by five children: Leo Finlinson (Lue) Arnold, Henefer; Nancy (Jack) Williams, Sandy; Richard Read (Deanna) Arnold, Taylorsville; Kathleen (Derall) Riley, Taylorsville; and Susan (Brent) Emery, Safford, Arizona; a brother Orson (Bud) Arnold, Brazil; and a sister, Eva McAllister, Copperton. He had 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his eternal companion, Maidie; two daughters Charlene and Alicia; a grandson Timothy Arnold; his parents; three brothers: Melvin, Paul, and John; and a sister Alicia Arnold Francis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 12 noon at the Taylorsville 4th Ward building 4310 South 3200 West. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 23, 2001 from 5:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. at McDougal

Funeral Home 4330 South Redwood Road and from 10:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.

H. Lynn Arnold, 93, of Orem, Utah, died June 29, 1998 in Orem, Utah.

He was born March 22, 1905 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of Ernest H. and Mary Case Arnold. He married Rhoda Clark on July 3, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died May 28, 1998. They would have celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary on July 3, 1998.He was the manager of the Troy Laundry in Ogden for many years. Closer to his retirement age, he was a job estimator for two construction companies. He served as President of the Ogden Lions Club and also served as a district

officer.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Southern States and has since served in many positions including Stake Patriarch of the Orem Canyon View Stake, as a former Bishop of the Ogden 28th Ward and he also was an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter, Rey L. (JoAnn) Arnold, West Jordan; Ned C. (Margaret) Arnold, Lititz, Pennsylvania; Marilyn Arnold, St. George; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 6, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Canyon View Stake Center, 575 East 800 North, Orem, Utah. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and Monday at the Stake Center from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.

South Jordan - Funeral services for Stanley K. Arnold, 64, of 11035 S. 1300 W., South Jordan, who died Thursday at his home, will be Monday at 1 p.m., in the South Jordan Fourth Ward Chapel, 1500 W. 10400 S.
He was the brother of H. Lynn Arnold, Orem.
Mr. Arnold was born Jan 1, 1909 in Salt Lake City, a son of Ernest Henry and Mary Mumford Case Arnold. He married Annetta Newbold on June 28, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
A retired miner, Mr. Arnold was active in the LDS Church.
Survivors include his widow and three sons, Kay S. Arnold, South Jordan; David N. Arnold, Roosevelt, and Thomas E. Arnold, Bluffdale; 18 grandchildren; four brothers, H. Lynn Arnold, Orem; Sidney E. Arnold, Midvale; Ernest O. Arnold, Sacramento, Calif., and Scott Arnold, Portland, Ore.
Friends may call tonight at 36 E. 700 S. from 6 to 8 o'clock and Monday at the chapel one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the South Jordan Cemetery.

She was born August 18, 1914 to luella Beckstead and Thomas Albert Newbold in South Jordan, Utah. She married Stanley K. Arnold June 28, 1935. She was an active member of the LDS Church and will be remembered by many for talents in music and painting ceramics and her love for plants and flowers. She will be missed by family and friends.She is survived by a brother, Leon (May) Newbold; three sons, Kay S. (Mary) Arnold, David N. Arnold, Thomas E. (Judy) Arnold; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special love and friends Carl Hatfield, Janet G. Arnold, and Bandit. Preceded in death by husband, Stanley K. Arnold, son, Terry Lee Arnold, daughter-in-law, Raphella Arnold, grandson, Tommy Arnold, and by six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 31, 1997, 11 a.m., Jordan River 10th Ward, 1540 West 10400 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and at the ward Monday, one hour prior to service.

DESERT HUNT FOR SOLDIER CONTINUES NEAR WILLIAMS

Williams (AP) - A search was to resume today near here for a young soldier who reportedly disappeared while on a trip to Utah.
The subject of the search is Spec. 5 Terry Lee Arnold, 26, who was on his way from Ft. Huachuca to a new assignment in Salt Lake City.
Meanwhile, Coconino County Sheriff Cecil Richards said that attempts were being made to identify a man's body found yesterday by searchers looking for Arnold.
Richards said the victim was apparently in his 20s and had been dead about eight days. The sheriff said there was no identification on the body.
Arnold's abandoned pickup truck was found near here Thursday after the soldier's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Arnold of Riverton, Utah, reported that their son had failed to meet them last weekend in Kanab, Utah, just north of the Arizona-Utah border.

Ethelyn Cannon Pett 1907 ~ 2005 After a life richly lived nearly a century,
Ethelyn Cannon Pett, 97, died June 16, 2005, in Salt Lake City. Ethelyn "Et"
Cannon Pett was born December 12, 1907, in Salt Lake City, to Caroline Young
Croxall Cannon and Willard Telle Cannon, and was granddaughter of George Q.
Cannon and great-granddaughter of Brigham Young. She attended LDS High School,
East High School, the University of Utah, and the University of California at
Berkeley, from which she graduated with a degree in Economics. She married
James Arthur Pett, Sr., August 20, 1934. Et was a very social person who loved
parties, "a friend of fun," as well as someone who regularly attended Utah
Symphony concerts, chamber music concerts, art exhibits, and the opera; and
read widely. Her travels took her to Mexico, Europe, Egypt, Japan, China, and
Thailand. She was a commanding presence at the bridge table. She skied, played
tennis, and especially enjoyed golf. Her family often heard her tickling "Tea
for Two" on the piano and her homes reflected her good taste and interest in
interior decoration. A member of the Town Club, the Salt Lake Country Club,
the Junior League, and a study club which met regularly for decades, Et also
volunteered at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Holy Cross Hospital, and then the
University of Utah Medical Center into her eighties. Predeceased by her
husband and all six of her brothers and sisters, Ethelyn is survived by her
children, James Arthur Pett, Jr. (Marjorie), Jane Semmel (Kenneth, deceased),
Stephen Willard Pett (Clare Cardinal), and eight flawless grandchildren. The
family wishes to thank Karen Hodgsen and the staff of Brighton Gardens of Salt
Lake City for devoted care in recent years. Friends and family are invited to
a memorial observance at the Town Club, 1081 East South Temple, Saturday, June
25, at 11:00 a.m. Ethelyn Cannon Pett will be interred in the Salt Lake City
cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested, to the
Utah Museum of Fine Arts or the University of Utah Medical Center.

103. Stuart Brandon Pett (Josephine Arnold , Orson Pratt , Josiah , Enoch , Enoch ) was born on 18 Aug 1911 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA. He died on 5 Jan 2001 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA.

Stuart Brandon Pett, "Stu", was born in Salt Lake City August 18, 1911 and died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, January 5, 2001. Stuart was the fourth son of Imer and Josephine Arnold Pett.

Stu graduated from East High School, Stanford University and the Babson Institute. After an internship working on the New York Stock Exchange, Stu returned to Salt Lake City to work as a stockbroker for the firm of Ure, Pett & Morris and later Merrill Lynch. He retired from Merrill Lynch in 1976 after 40 years of service in the brokerage business. Stu was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and proudly served during World War II on the U.S.S. President Jackson, the first ship to land combat troops during the first offensive on the Solomon Islands and later Guam, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima.

After the war, Stu returned to Salt Lake and married Marjorie Emma Nilson. They were happily married for 55 years. Stu was deeply devoted to his family and so proud of his children, "Suze", "Randy", "Rip", and "Rob". Stu enjoyed skiing and golf and excelled on Stanford University's Tennis Team and as the Captain of the Golf Team. He was a charter member of the Salt Lake Tennis Club and Willow Creek Country Club. Stu was an avid duck hunter and a longstanding member of the New State Duck Club, a place of personal contemplation. Stu was an active member of the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife, Marge; sons Stuart Brandon (Virginia) Pett Jr., Richard Imer (Claire) Pett, Robert Nilson (Kathryn) Pett; daughter, Susan Nilson Pett; grandchildren, Amy, Jake, Max, Katya and "Robbie" Pett; and very special family member, Mary Mone. Stu was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Imer, Russell, Arthur.

Stu was a man of few words and the embodiment of "class". Those people who were fortunate enough to know Stu, knew a gracious, generous, dignified, and honest man. Stu was a true gentleman with a kind heart and wry sense of humor. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. "The smile in his eyes was a blessing on our lives."

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the 5 North staff of the University of Utah Hospital (Gigi, Sonja, Nancy, Annette, and Eva) and special thanks to Drs. Dunson, Shah, Maul, Pendleton and East.

Services will be 12 noon Mon. Jan 8, 2001 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr where friends may call Sunday 5-7 p.m. and Mon. 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
