Dr. Asa Johnston Driggs became a pupil of the Episcopal Academy of
Conn. when about 16 years of age (1821) of which institution he was
afterwards a trustee. He was graduated from the medical department of
Yale College in 1826, and commenced the practice of medicine at
Cheshire. After his wife's death, which occurred the same year, Dr.
Driggs went to Cuba, where he practiced his profession and had charge
of several plantations. He returned to Cheshire after a few years
residence in Cuba, and lived there most of the time until his death.
He was an able and successful practitioner, a man of marked
characteristics, affable in manner and of humorous disposition.
